New Work! New Camera!

We just got back from the studio, Dave and I, where he worked on his ocarinas and I continued my 2011 Glaze-a-palooza. My goal is to glaze all the bisque wear I have in my cubicle before December 31. I'm pretty much on schedule, too, for once.

Here is some of it:

Bankys! There will never be an end to bankys it seems--although these are the last of the bunch, thrown at the beginning of this past summer. The ant-y bank was intended to be a birthday gift for Dave (whose birthday is in July).  I had to blow quite a bit of dust off these guys before I could start glazing them.

These are more recent pieces, thrown within the last month just to try out a new clay called B3. It's a really dark brown clay, full of iron and manganese. It throws beautifully and gets along with glazes not at all.

Mas calaveras, of course.

And that's a Mexican folk art-inspired cat design.

And one last vase, carved when I was getting tired of carving. I don't like it very much, but that's fine; I can always use it to test glazes on.

This last piece is not one of mine, but a piece from one of the guys who works in the studio. I got it from him during the Christmas studio sale:

I also have a new camera, a tiny little Canon elph. Yay! Merry Christmas to me from Dave!
