Smashing?

BISQUE! WHY BISQUE?! WHY?!

This pile has remained essentially unchanged for the last six months. I-ye. I-yea. I don't want to deal with it for one reason or another. The calavera vases, for example, stalled out after I glazed one and sent it through the kiln and it came out fine and then cracked and split all the way around, top from bottom as it sat on the shelf. That took the wind out of my sails and so I let the other calavera vases just languish away in the bisque stage. The other things were experiments (that wonky hand-built candle holder in front--I mean, I don't even use candles, so why) or are hard to glaze or need stilting in the kiln or are just not worth putting any more work into. What do I do then? So far my solution has been to pile them on a shelf and forget about them--except when I walk into my tiny cubicle and try to find more space to put work in progress.

My birthday is coming up. Maybe my gift to myself with be a smashing party where I get to smash everything piece of bisque I haven't touched in six months.

ouch! I hate thinking of that good stuff going under the hammer! Alas, though, the maker has final say. Starting fresh on a birthday is good mojo.. ! xo

Oh I have quite a few cabinets and shelves and drawers with purposefully hidden projects your post has reminded me of, I need a smashing party myself. Can you try one more of those calavera vases?

Hello, Senora Laura!
I'm so ready to have a fresh start. Feels right for some reason...

Hi Linda! I think I tend to abandon projects for so many different reasons, but I never know quite when to let go, when to hang on a bit longer, and when I'm just fooling myself that I'm going to come back to them. I may put a bit more effort into the calavera project though.
