These are a couple of Dave's drawings from our recent drawing class.
I like this one:
It's so alien and ordinary at the same time, no?
The other students in the class liked this one:
One woman complemented the ridges on his potato chip. High praise indeed.
It's funny. Dave didn't seem to mind, but I really, really didn't like showing my drawings for critiques either from the teacher or from the other students. Why? Well, I can see in my own drawings where they are lacking, for one, and for two, I have a hard time (when it comes to art--and many other things actually) listening to any voice but my own.
Does that sound conceited? (It is.)
I have a lot of reasons for feeling that way: For one, The Brain is very rebellious and thinks that most other people (and their opinions) are useless. (See, I don't think that. The Brain thinks that.) And for two, The Brain likes to work with the hands and the eyes, but it does not like to collaborate with other non-Brain, non-hand, non-eye entities.
(God, any explanation would make it sound so much worse, wouldn't it? Yikes.
But Dave's drawings are good, no?)
