As I'm sure you're all aware, Halloween happened (we got our third trick-or-treater in six years) and Dia de Los Muertos was November 2nd. The only thing I had the energy to do was harvest some marigolds from the garden and fill some cups and vases around the casita.
These are two cups from the amazing Laura Farrow, a N.C. potter whose work just blows me away. I mean, look at those amazing cups.
I want a whole set of dishes like this. I mean, look at that!
This is one of my own little calavera cups with a little marigold arrangement in it:
He's sitting on the bathroom counter. (Probably all wilted by now.)
And, let's see. This little nerd got to go to the emergency vet Saturday before last. He had a scratched eye and infected puncture wound on his leg.
He's feeling better now, thankfully.
And what else? Oh, yes. Yesterday was a busy day. Dave and I went to see one of his coworkers in a performance of David Mamet's play "November" at a small local theater in town. This was the set. (I snuck a picture as I was turning off my phone before the performance.)
The New York Times, reviewing the Broadway version, called it "a David Mamet play for people who don't like David Mamet." It was like a 90 minute sitcom. Unfortunately.
After the play, we had some dinner then went to the opening for one of the artists at the studio. It was too dark in the place to get any decent photos. (It's actually a bar with art on the walls.) But we had a good time talking with people from the studio who we see rarely anymore.
We didn't stay out late because we're old and needed to get home before the band started up, of course, but it was fun. Made for a long day though.
And here are a couple of random photos from my new phone. (Yes, I got a new phone, a Samsung Galaxy S III. Too much phone for me, but whatever. My old phone gave up the ghost about three weeks ago.)
This is a box of cheap brushes our drawing teacher brought to class on the night we were doing watercolor washes:
This is a half-finished cup sitting in my dark cubicle. (It's turned upside down to keep dust from settling inside it.)
Wooooo.....
