Sketchbook Confidential

Messing about with a sketchbook and an eight-pan watercolor set and watercolor pencils (both Crayola) that I bought at Walmart in the back-to-school section. (Crayola kids paintbrushes suck, by the way. Don't buy them. I went and bought a set of five cheap round brushes so I could throw out the crap Crayola brushes.)

Esqueleto! (I put that one first because Dave said it freaked him out. He said it was the teeth, but I know that he doesn't like skulls with hair on them. Je je je!)

There's a gorgeous Joy Harjo poem ("Death is A Woman") with the line, "I can already see my own death trying on my shoes..."

Those are the creepy. Here are the cute:

I showed this little couple to Dave and he said it had a very dreamlike quality.

The world needs more tree huggers.

And the best for last: Dave's favorite of the sketchbook creatures, practically an escapee from the island of misfit toys.

In other news:
It was a long day today. My mother had PT at 8 a.m., then we had to drive an hour-plus to Las Cruces to see an orthopedic shoe specialist in the afternoon. An attempt to have the air conditioning in her car serviced went badly; Don't even get me started on the "mechanics" at Pep Boys. Those fucktards. I swear.

We came home by way of Wendy's to have burgers for dinner and I crashed watching a movie (Look Both Ways, which stars an Australian actor, William McInnes, that I just saw in another film that I liked, Unfinished Sky.) Of course now I can't get back to sleep...

Actually your work is excellent. It deserves frames. I suppose you realize how many people have no imagination at all. You are fortunate.
