Catalogue
I haven't done very much since I got home from Deming; have tried to step back into the daily routine mostly.
The cats missed me to various extents. (Gray Kitty has to be close to me as much as he can, wants to sit on my lap, come into the bathroom with me, lay at my feet in bed. Saba is glad to have her servant back, someone to let her in and out as she pleases and provide treats on demand--though she did cuddle with me a couple of times, curling up in the crook of my arm and resting her head on my shoulder to take a nap.)
Since I've been back, I've been cooking dinners most nights before Dave gets home (unusual for me). This week we've had guacamole nachos, a kind of vegetarian mezze, and polenta made two ways. Last night though, we had dinner at one of our favorite splash-out type restaurants, Jennifer James 101. I had an enormous ribeye steak, medium rare, and a kind of near-flourless chocolate cake called boca negra. Dave had tomato gnocchi and two kinds of salad and basil ice cream for dessert. (They make their own ice cream and the basil was delicious, but it didn't even come close to their amazing roasted banana ice cream.) A storm had come up while we had dinner and, as we left the restaurant, there was thunder and lightning and rain, not unusual for this time of year.
Yesterday I had lunch, dim sum, with my Aunt Charlotte. We ate way too much as one is wont to do at dim sum restaurants. She spent last weekend in Deming and is headed back there again next weekend.
Tomorrow is my birthday and this year we're not traveling on my birthday, unfortunately. We're headed to Chicago soon (have train tickets but no hotel yet--'ulp!) but this weekend we'll stay close to home.

Happy Birthday!
I hope you have good luck finding your hotel!
And dim sum! I miss dim sum :-( Hopefully in October I'll be able to have some.
Felize Cumpleanos, amiga!!! Enjoy Chicago!

Aw! Thanks, you two!
As of this afternoon, we're booked a room at The Wit in downtown Chicago for our stay. Walking distance to the Art Institute and Millennium Park. Yay!!
Can't wait to hit the road!
