I clearly did not get out with the paintbrush to do any pollination this year. That is some janky corn. Of course with the crap garden we had this year, that is a bumper crop. Still, beautiful fall colors, no?
Here's another partially painted olla. I don't know why I'm on such a kick with these things. I have far more than we'll need for the garden in the spring.
It is an easy way to use up the commercially prepped paperclay that I bought fifty pounds of before I realized that the ridiculous amount of bactericide in it was trashing my hands. I don't like wearing gloves while I work, but with this stuff I have to.
And we did some more raku weekend before last. Here is one of the four ollas I raku'd.

yay raku!! I am on tap to do some next month.. can't wait. oh yeah, maybe i better make a few things first...
that corn is beautifully imperfect chica. better luck next time... don't feel bad.. all we got out of our summer garden was weeds. xo
It's the perfect time of year for raku--if you're finally cooling down 'round your way!
Damn gardens. If I had to survive on what we got out of our garden, man, I could renounce my weight watchers membership! ;)
