Life Is Sweet
Happy New Year!
A couple of days before the new year, I had a craving for donuts so Dave and I went to Rebel Donuts and bought this half-dozen (mine on the left: vanilla and chocolate and red velvet with chocolate glaze cake donuts; Dave's on the right: a "Barney Rebel" with Fruity Pebbles embedded in the frosting, a Boston Creme, and a red velvet cake donut) and a couple decaf lattes. No, we didn't eat the whole half dozen donuts-- that actually took a couple of days--but, man, that was a nice, sugary treat.
New Year's day we went to my mother's new place for menudo and posole (vegetarian for Dave) and candy and conversation. (Reminded me of going to my grandmother's house on new years and eating menudo and biscochitos.) Menudo with pigs feet is one of my favorite foods, so it was nice to scarf down two big bowls and then bring home another couple of bowls for later.
Dave had almost two weeks off so we spent a few days at the studio. I've been working on cells--three partially finished so far--and Dave has been throwing bowls and making ocarinas. I'm glad to have new work going on in the new year. New work keeps The Brain happy.
Resolutions
As far as resolutions go:
1. To exercise three times a week at least. I have no more excuses about this and I know it will help my blood pressure, so I'm doing it.
2. To read one book a week--with two books being gold-star worthy. I'm partly through Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch, so that's book numero uno.
3. To continue with therapy even when, especially when, it gets difficult.
4. To get rid of some clutter in the casita and reorganize things. Got to make room for new things!
We have some joint resolution-ish things, Dave and me, things like cooking more at home rather than going out to eat. But I'm keeping it simple, mostly because I know myself.

Good for you! Your resolutions sound doable...I hardly ever make them anymore because I never know what is going to happen from one day to the next!
Happy New Year :-)
And those doughnuts look good...we went to Mr. Donut today and had a couple of really small (but good) ones!
Happy New Year, Helen!
I should make more ambitious resolutions, but I know I'd never keep them up for longer than a week! :)
