Personal Mythology
I've been working on these strange, primal figures.
I added removable stands to some of them so they're more like action figures. But at the same time I added trunks and removed heads and, in homage to Rene Magritte, I began to cut windows into some.
(What will people think when they're digging that out of the desert 30,000 years from now? That we were a cult of elephant worshippers?)
The face-down winged figure at the foot of the headless figure in that picture looks like this when it's standing:
This tentacled figure is one of my favorites so far. I have a whole race of octopodia beings planned.
My plan is to start to mix traditional mythology with personal mythology; start to tell a different story. The next figures will have words on them, I think. Or more texture. Or both.
Dave and I loaded a bisque kiln this afternoon, so I'll have lots of figures out tomorrow either to glaze or to paint with acrylics.
