We've been sitting with these little nerds for the past several days, filling them with treats and so on.

She was about ten seconds away from biting him in the ass just to cause trouble. |
I did a few of loads of laundry. In between doing loads of laundry, I binge watched a few episodes of the new Netflix series from Tina Fey, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. It doesn't seem like it's going to be a comedy from the description (a woman who has been held in a bunker by a doomsday apocalypse cult for fifteen years is freed and moves to New York City), but it's hilarious.
In the afternoon, I also got a package of things I ordered from Sephora: A couple of new lipsticks, one from Ardency Inn in "lovecat" (a blue-red), one from Sephora's line in a dark mauve. I also ordered an unscented antiperspirant from Clinique. Mostly I was interested in the unscented antiperspirant because that stuff is remarkably difficult to find and I have, over the past several years, developed some kind of topical sensitivity to most perfumes. Of course, Sephora threw in a handful of samples--most of which I won't be able to use because of that perfume sensitivity, but oh well. I suppose it's the thought that counts. (Even if the thought is that I'll spend more money at Sephora if they send me three microscopically tiny sachets of eye cream.)
We've been cooking all week, so on Friday we opted for a take-out pizza dinner, a medium pie, half vegetarian for Dave (onions, green chile, kalamata olives), half-non vegetarian for me (ground beef, mushrooms, onions). We also got a big Greek salad. While we ate, I convinced Dave to watch the first episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, and he also liked it.
After dinner, we went outside to find that that there was a police helicopter circling our place. While we were watching that, about four police cars sped by on our street, their lights flashing. Strange. Welcome to the valley, I guess.
Saturday
Saturday Dave went off to the Fiery Foods Show and then to lunch with his mother. I stayed in and, yes, binge watched more Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Dave came home in the afternoon bearing gifts, salad rolls and leftover curry from Thai Vegan, and chocolates, jerky, mustard, and pasta from the food show. It was a nice enough afternoon that we sat out on the patio while I had my salad rolls and he told me about the show.
After that we had to run to Target to do some shopping. We've been needing a new shower curtain, so we picked that up, along with things like toothpaste and floss and so on. Just boring everyday stuff.
After Target, we went up to the studio for a little while. I did some underglazing and loaded a kiln while Dave worked out the program for the kiln.

We had our usual feast at Chopstix: vinegar and sugar ribs, green beans in black bean sauce, bok choi, their house tofu dish, beef in oyster sauce, vegetable egg rolls, and rice. It was delicious and so full of sodium that I puffed up like a balloon later.
Sunday
Sunday came too soon, especially considering the daylight savings time change which always throws people for a loop. Dave had set the kiln to begin firing early, but had forgotten about the time change, so we had a long day of kiln watching ahead of us.
We were back up at the studio a little after 9 a.m. We checked the kiln and Dave reprogrammed it to fire to a slightly lower temperature (cone 05 instead of cone 04), a change that would save us a couple of hours. We cleaned up the studio a bit and then went out to take pictures of some of my work. After that, I worked a bit on the latest sculpture, another tall piece starting with a thrown base.
Judi came out in the afternoon and I gave her a mini-lesson in how to attach photos to her text messages. I've been teaching her how to text (she and Paul have a smart phone but they only use it for long distance calls) and now that she's got the hang of it a little bit, she wants to learn more. She also surprised me by telling Paul that she wants her own smart phone that she can carry around with her at all times. (I tried to warn her that it's a slippery slope, but of course it fell on deaf ears.)
Judi and Paul went off to a lecture in the afternoon, and since we were sticking around to babysit the kiln, we fed and walked Crunch.

Crunchy Munchie knows I have treats to slip him on the sly. |
While we waited for our kiln, Dave went out to pick up a few groceries. When he came back, we watched a couple of episodes of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. They were episodes that I'd already seen, but they were even funnier the second time around.
Our kiln finished up around 8:30 and we packed up everything and headed home. At home, we put away our groceries and I changed into my pajamas.
I'm in bed now, of course, before 10:00 p.m. My back is killing me from sitting for so long while I was working on my sculpture.
Where did the weekend go?!
