YAWN!

What a day--and on zero sleep.

7:30 a.m. saw me in the dentist's chair, getting a cleaning. So that was fun.

After, I stopped at Target, walked around in a daze putting nothing in my basket. I was trying to decide if I should go home and take a nap or if I should just power through the day with caffeine. I did stop at Starbucks on the way out for a grande soy latte, thinking I might have a caffeine power nap. (That's where you drink a cup of coffee and then nap for 20 minutes, which is about the time the caffeine starts to hit your system.)

At home I was falling asleep when my mother texted. We had tentative plans to drive out to the auction house to pick up our checks from the auction, but I was already too tired and I had an appointment later in the day, so I suggested Tuesday instead. (Luckily, my aunt had already gone by there to pick up our checks and talk to the auctioneer about putting the rest of the pottery in the next sale.)

I finally got a bit of a power nap (about 15 minutes) then went off to my therapy appointment. More fun!

Back home, I got into bed and slept for about two hours, just enough to wake up feeling like I had been hit by a truck.

When I got up, I immediately started dinner (green chile omelets with kale and sliced tomatoes). Because I tend to eat and eat and eat when I am exhausted and I had done that all day long (focusing mainly on bananas smeared with giant dollops of soy-nut butter), I only had a few points by the time dinner rolled around, so I had the sparest dinner possible to avoid going over my daily points goal. So my omelet was three egg whites with a bit of green chile, sauteed kale, and half a tomato. (Compare that to Dave's omelet, which was made was three whole eggs, chile, and lots of cheese. And he had toast! Lucky.)

After dinner, we ran a few errands. I've been needing shoes for awhile since my old sneakers are beyond busted and really only suitable for use in the studio (where I mostly sit and it doesn't matter if they get covered with clay). Luckily, most of the rest of my life can be accomplished in flip flops (around the house and garden), socks (pilates class), or a pair of bump-toed mary janes that look like an especially feminine Frankenstein's monster would wear them (everywhere else). But, since I'm needing to do more walking (both for exercise and on our upcoming vacation), I needed to get some decent walking shoes.

Since I had left the house sockless, we hit up Old Navy so I could buy a pair of socks--and also a pair of teal flip-flops since they were on sale for, like, $2.50. Dave picked up a spare pair of sweats to wear to pilates, too.

Then we stopped at RackRoom Shoes, where I tried on nine or ten pairs of sneakers. I finally settled on the ugliest and most comfortable pair of men's black New Balance sneakers they had in stock. (I always buy men's sneakers since they're as ugly as women's sneakers, but usually much more comfortable and better made.)  Since they were having a "buy one get one half-off" sale, I looked over the women's sandals. They didn't have anything that fit--I have a huge, wide foot--except for the most ridiculous pair of sandals that have uppers made of stretchy material and soles made of the same material that yoga mats are made of. They, like the sneakers, were hideously ugly; I really only tried them on as a joke almost. But the joke was on me because they were incredibly comfortable! So I bought them. (I guess I'm at the point in my life when I'm not willing to trade looks for comfort, shoe-wise. I like to call it the aging butch lesbian phase and I'm whole-heartedly embracing it as the most comfortable and least bunion- and blister-ridden phase of my life so far.)

After RackRoom, we went by the pet store to pick up cat food. Of course the cats are turning up their noses the stupid $3 a (tiny) can prescription diet that we just spent a small fortune to buy half a case of from the vet. Grrr!!!

After the pet store, we stopped by the co-op. By then I was in an exhausted, glazed-over daze, the kind of daze that grocers hope you walk in the door with, because I walked around filling the basket willy-nilly with $6 notebooks, bars of ridiculously expensive dark chocolate, half-watermelons, and miniscule bags of dried banana candy that cost $5 each.  (We went in there for cheddar cheese and salad mix.)

After that we came home. I was a zombie by then, but I made a green chile grilled cheese for Dave's lunch, did some dishes, scrubbed the toilet, and journaled (on paper) for awhile. The Brain was so exhausted that it just kept putting one foot in front of the other, plodding forward. I could not get it to unwind or wind down enough to get to sleep. I finally, finally forced myself to get into bed and then I fell asleep fairly quickly--and woke up about three hours later. Which brings us to now. I'm hoping to get a bit more sleep tonight, before I have to be up to do it all again tomorrow.
