The Angel in the House

Kind of an exciting day.

I was still feeling a little itchy this morning, so I kept up on the benadryl which made me feel like a zombie. The stuff knocks me out, so I ended up sleeping most of the morning away and then waking up in a daze.

In the afternoon, I did a few chores, took a shower, and spent some time reading and online.  Dave called in the afternoon; someone on the east coast had placed an online order with Hollister and the fraud people at the bank caught it so our credit cards were being cancelled and reissued. This is the fourth or fifth time that has happened to us. We had our credit card info stolen years ago and about $2,500 worth of charges made for various things. The bank ate that one. Then we were caught in the big Michael's Craft Store and Target database hacking fiascoes and got new cards both times. Our medical and likely financial records were part of the Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield database hacking. And now this.  It's become such a commonplace occurrence and the banks make such a huge profit off of interest on credit cards that they just eat the billions of dollars that they lose to fraud.

So that was exciting.

After dealing with that at the office, Dave came home around 4:30 and we turned around and made a mad dash across town to pick up our car from the mechanics by 5:00 p.m. We got there at 4:53, paid our bill (on a different credit card, of course), and picked up the car. They fixed everything they were supposed to and now, after twelve years, the air conditioning works again.

We were supposed to meet Chris and Lu Ann for dinner at 5:30--again across town, this time in two different cars--and we actually made it on time. A bit early even.

We finally had our Brazilian meat fest blow out tonight! We seriously ate meat until meat was coming out of our ears. Well, except for Dave, who was reduced to eating salad and pasta. It's four and a half hours later and I still feel like I swallowed a bowling ball, I ate so much meat.

Chris and Lu Ann brought me a bag filled with birthday gifts, one a really awesome book about dream interpretation. I really love dream symbol dictionaries and I recently had to toss my old one because it somehow got wet and was growing a nice crop of mold in it. So--yay!--now I have a new one.

Oh! And my NYX order showed up. My gray lipstick is everything I was hoping it would be. It's a very, very pale gray. I think I'm going to have fun with it, even if I only wear it around the house.  I had also ordered another dark brownish-red lipstick but that showed up broken and melted, so I emailed NYX to see if I'll have to ship it back for a replacement. Sucks, too, because it's a really lovely color and I'd like to wear it sooner rather than later.

After dinner, I started on my new meds, a replacement for the one I'm likely allergic to. I always have a lot of anxiety around starting new medications considering that I've had some pretty intense reactions to other medications. I usually start a new med on a day when someone is going to be around and/or on a weekday morning, when I can call of my doctor if I need to. (Of course, with the doctor I have now, I'm probably better off consulting Dr. Google and just winging it if I need anything.)

I'm still way too full, but I am craving something SUGARY!
