Tuesday, Wednesday

Tuesday

I decided to do a little random rewarding this week, so I placed an order last night for a bunch of fun, new art supplies. I got drawing pens, markers, some new coloring pencils, sketchbooks, water-soluble graphite pencils, and so on. I'm toying with the idea of using a bound sketchbook for my notes for the classes I'm taking next semester. It would be interesting, I think, and a welcome change from the usual college-ruled, loose-leaf paper.

That reminds me, I need to go to the bookstore this week and figure out which textbook I need for next semester. Then I'm going to order it online because I despise the bookstore and everything it stands for.

I spent part of yesterday decluttering and cleaning the bathroom. I pulled all the baskets off the shelves and went through them and got rid of a bunch of stuff. Then I wiped out all the baskets with a damp cloth and wiped all the shelves off. I scrubbed the shower and the toilet and cleaned off everything on the counters. I cleaned the mirror and sink and swept the floor. (I still have to mop, but I hate mopping, so I put that off.)

Tonight, I have to pick Dave up from the airport. He's been in Minnesota the last couple of days for work. It's been snowy with temperatures below zero there, which I can't even imagine having to live with. It was 20 degrees here yesterday morning when I had to go out and I was miserable until the car warmed up.

Wednesday

Dave came home last night bearing gifts: Art supplies! It was a lot of paper, actually, which is good because I burn through paper. He brought two types of water color paper, a sketchbook with black paper, and colored construction paper. He also brought some chocolates, Godiva milk chocolate caramels, which yay!

I made myself sick on chocolate, painted on some watercolor paper using my water soluble crayons and Inktense blocks, and then went to bed. I was a little tired because the night before, the cats had woken me up at 2:40 and I never got back to sleep.

Lucky me, the cats have been waking me up every night between 2:30 and 4:30. They've been stuck inside a lot because it's been so cold out recently, and they hate it. Their crepuscular nature means that they like for everyone in the casita to be up to greet the dawn, so they've devised a bunch of tricks designed to wake me up. They jump on the bed, climb all over me, scratch the furniture, meow loudly, jump on my computer, knock things off the shelves near the bed, just a host of adorable things that they know will work.

When I'm up, they demand breakfast and I, like an idiot, comply just to shut them up. Seriously, they will keep cycling through their tricks until they get what they want. I'm not one of those people who will spray a cat with water (I do sometimes yell at them--unless it will wake Dave up), so they know they won't get in trouble and, better yet, they get the reward of breakfast.

So, yes, that's how my mornings have been starting recently.

The day has been quiet so far. I did get a nap in after Dave left for work. Then I got up, had breakfast (which included chocolates; someone please take them away from me) and took a shower. I used my new blow dryer (recently ordered from Amazon to replace the tiny, nearly useless travel dryer that I've been using for the last ten or twelve years) to dry my hair. It worked so well that I may even break out my very little used curling iron to curl the ends under

I have therapy this afternoon at 4:00, but I don't get fancied up for that. Most of the time I go with my usual uniform of jeans and a t-shirt, no makeup of course, and my hair pulled back with an elastic band. After that, I don't know. Dave and I have been going out for dinner after therapy for the last several weeks since I don't usually want to dig through my psyche and then have to come home and cook. But so far we haven't planned anything.
