Mind the Gap
The teeth are coming along.
This is the eyeless skullie with the gap between its two front teeth. The gap seems relatively slight, but once the teeth have been painted white and black is rubbed into the low spots, the gap will pop out, so to speak, so I didn't want to make it huge at this stage.
My next sculpture I think will incorporate a lot of huge red roses. I'm thinking a kind of Frida Kahlo-esque figure, but covered in roses at the neckline and across the top of head as a kind of rosy paean to love.
Anyway
Yesterday was kind of a busy day. Dave went off to bake bread with his mom and as soon as he got home at 1:30, we rushed off to meet my mom to see a musical (West Side Story) at the local theater. The best role in that movie is Maria's (in my opinion) and the woman who played Maria in this version really did a great job. The rest of the cast was community theater level good, some better than others, of course. But I did enjoy it.
After, we had to come home for a bit, then we went out to dinner with Paul and Judi. We had Chinese food and way too much of it. (I was hungry when David and I got to the restaurant, so I ordered a cup of egg drop soup while we waited for them to arrive. When they did arrive, we ordered egg rolls, a type of soup called "Flour bead soup," sugar and vinegar ribs, house tofu, green beans in black bean sauce, sauteed baby bok choi, and Mongolian beef. Yes, for four people!)
I came home and fell into a post Chinese-feast coma for a few hours, but then got up and couldn't get back to sleep. Instead I fooled around on the internet. Finally, just before dawn, I fell asleep again.
