We were out of the house by 10:20 because we wanted bánh mì for breakfast (Dave's breakfast, actually, and my lunch, since I had been up for most of the night and had eaten breakfast around 3:30 a.m.). We went early to try to beat the crowds. Starting around half an hour after the shop opens at 10:30, there is pretty much a constant line of people ordering food and buying baked and other prepared goods. We didn't have to wait, though, since we got in the door just a few minutes after they opened.
We shared an order of tofu spring rolls and each had a tofu bánh mì.
We had a sesame ball (jian dui) each. I can't figure out the filling in this particular shop's sesame balls. I think it's a mixture of white kidney beans, sugar, and either lotus or sesame seeds. Anyway, they're very tasty.
Dave picked up this sweet, too, a steamed something or other with coconut inside and served with coconut milk on the side. They had a very gelatinous texture and the inside reminded me a bit of certain kinds of histology slides.
After blunch (or brunch, if you prefer), we had some errands to run. We went to pick up a new pair of glasses I ordered from Costco, then we stopped by the pet store to load up on kitty litter and food. Then we went to my mother's place to pick up her mail and newspapers. After that, we went to Target to pick up a few things. Finally, we stopped by the studio.
I hadn't gotten enough sleep the night before--yet again--so I was exhausted by the time we reached the studio. We stayed long enough for me to put the finishing touches on the piece I showed last time and for both me and Dave to glaze a few test tiles with some new glazes we picked up on Saturday.
You can see my chaotic workspace here, with a handful of my new low-fire glazes mixed in with a few of my old favorites.
And there's another thing I picked up at the clay supply store:
We came home via the giant fizzy drink store and then I had a nap that lasted, like, six hours. While I napped, Dave did the dishes and sorted out the worm bins. (I did help a bit, pre-nap, by shredding lots of newspaper and then staying out of the way.)
It was getting cold, and the little worms, stripped of their warm compost home, were sluggish. (Don't worry, there was plenty of warm compost for these little worms to go home to.)
And just so I don't leave you with disgusting wormy dreams, here are some pics that I took on our Friday night ramen outing:
Yummy tonkotsu ramen for me and karamiso (with tofu instead of pork) for Dave.
And that was Sunday.
Oh! It's still poetry month!
Who compares with Emily Dickinson? No one.

You can post pictures of worms any day! I'd prefer not to see any more ramen though! ;-D I see too much of it with my DH being a ramen addict.
I got a big laugh out of your comment, Helen! I can imagine you'd like to see a ban on ramen in your housemail. :)
Most definitely!
"Housemail"?! Ay yi yi! Can you tell I was trying to answer comments on my phone? Damn autocorrect.
I obviously meant household.
