Survivalversary

I had a quiet day today.

In the morning, an adult antlion sitting on the screen door greeted me at eye level when I went to let the cats in.

I read, wrote, worked in my bullet journal. I gave the cats and dogs plenty of treats. Kelly sent an email with a photo of the opera house in Prague, taken from their box seats. I sent her one back of one of the dogs posing happily near the books he'd chewed up.

In the afternoon, UPS dropped off a package of two ridiculously expensive moisturizers and a tiny lipstick from Sephora.

In the evening, it rained and rained and rained.

Dave and I went out to dinner, to Garcia's Kitchen for menudo and chicharrones (for me) and huevos rancheros (for Dave).

Menudo makes me happy.
After, we went to a newly opened Ulta and I happily spent far too much money mostly on new lipsticks (and a few other bits and bobs). We came home via the co-op where we picked up fruit, food for the cats, chocolate, and a bouquet of flowers--a purple and green bouquet--another bit of celebration.

We came home and I put away the groceries and put the flowers in water while Dave gave the cats their dinner. I tried on two of the five (!) lipsticks I bought, most of them from NYX. They're all very dark and dramatic, just the way I like them. I may go back for at least one of the blue lipsticks I passed up. (I love strangely hued lipsticks like blue, black, and gray, even if I only wear them around the house.)

It was a good day.

In the darkest days, I have struggled to find things to be grateful for. But today was not a dark day and I could easily see that there is much to be grateful for.

Lipsticks!!!
I'm having a hard time thinking of gratefulness these days, though just this morning, I found myself smiling while sitting on the back porch, up too early, drinking coffee. So I guess the universe is nudging me along!

Morning, Carol! (Well, it's afternoon now!)

The universe does tend to do that! I try to write down 3 things every day to be grateful for and that does help me a bit.

Coffee on the back porch sounds great. All I need is some coffee--and a back porch! :D
