Posted Lingerie

Ugh, studying. That's all I'm going to say about that. I'm trusting The Brain to get us through this one. (You hear that, Brain? It's all on you now.)

Yesterday morning I got up after too little sleep and decided to tackle my sticker chart duties. So I sewed. I made a small zippered pouch using some fusible fleece that I bought on my last trip to JoAnn's. I have never used fusible fleece before and I kind of like it. (It's a tiny bit stiffer than regular low-loft batting and it doesn't have to be sewn in because it fuses, mostly, to fabric when ironed.) I also got some practice setting in zippers, which is not a fun or easy thing to do. Drafting the pattern, ironing, cutting the fabric and fleece, then sewing up the pouch took about an hour. So that was my art project for the day.

After, I sat down to study for a couple of hours. The more I study the less I seem to know.

After studying I took a shower and while I got ready I texted Grace and Chris to see if they wanted to come out to dinner with me and Dave. They did, so we made a plan to meet up for dim sum. I had a little more time after that until dinner, so I had a snack and did some more studying.

Everyone was a little subdued at dinner what with the ugly bombing news and the racism news and the Matthew Shepard news, but we still had a filling meal of dim sum and good company. And I came away with a renewed desire to stay away from the news. The whole of the U.S. is mired in great stinking piles Trumpublican shit right now and I am doing my part and trying--like the millions of Americans who elected Hillary Clinton to the presidency only to have it stolen from her by Trump working with the Russians and scads of idiotic electoral college Trumpublican cult members--to vote my way out of this shit. (I remember telling my mother, when I was young, that I hated stupid people. Now I look around at the people blithely voting away their rights and swallowing the "fake news" idiocy being put out by their "nationalist" president, and engaging in--reveling in--racist rhetoric and taking delight in brown people like me being put in cages and so on and on and on and I can say that I apparently never outgrew my hatred of stupid people.)

We're going to vote tomorrow, early, and hope that the Russians aren't going to steal this election too (even though there are already Russians on American soil being indicted for election tampering in this election, which--huh--is something that doesn't make the news). And after voting, we're going to go for Chinese food.

Anyway.

After dinner with Grace and Chris, Dave and I came home with giant fizzy drinks and a vanilla cone for me. Because sugar makes everything better. We came home and I studied some more. Then I changed into my pajamas and got into bed to fall asleep with a book. (I'm reading again! Yay!) I got up in the night to pee and then couldn't get back to sleep, so I read some more on the couple of books I have going and then I kindled a copy of The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt. It's a good book but kind of depressing as hell, so I abandoned it about a third of the way through. Maybe it's less depressing in the daylight? I don't know, but I can't risk it in the small night hours.

And here's something funny that happened today:

Kelly brought over some of our mail with one envelope having been opened accidentally by Kevin. That's all fine since we're not at the moment actively committing fraud via the US postal service--or at least not worrying about being discovered doing so. And anyway, about five people's mail gets delivered to their house regularly, so an occasional accidentally opened envelope is bound to happen. Later in the afternoon, Dave and I were taking out the trash and recycling and saw Kevin going back inside their place with some packages that had just been dropped off. A few minutes later Dave got a text from Amazon that my package had just been delivered so we assumed that either Kelly or Kevin would bring it over in awhile or text us to come collect it. As we were leaving for dinner, Kelly brought over a plastic Amazon envelope taped shut. Kevin had again accidentally opened our mail. We had a laugh wondering how long it had taken him to realize that the size 44H lacy purple bra inside wasn't for him or for Kelly.

That was a highlight of my day, actually, picturing that scene.

Anyway, I haven't tried the bra on yet, but it gets good reviews on Amazon and a good $20 bra in my size is not easy to find.
