Thursday
I had a painful dental appointment in the morning. It's hours later and my mouth is still sore. We stopped for coffee after, as a reward. Not the smartest idea, but I don't care. I want a reward for going to the dentist during a pandemic.
I did not sleep well last night. I couldn't fall asleep for a long time, then I woke up in the night and couldn't get back to sleep. Then I woke up again after a couple of hours. It was close to the time I had set my alarm--5:30 a.m.--so I just got up.
We had to leave the house a bit before 7 to make it to my appointment on time. That's one thing I don't like about moving to a more remote location, the ridiculous amount of time it takes to get to anywhere.
We came home and Dave fed the dog and I loaded the dishwasher and folded laundry while watching an episode of Great British Bake Off. It's the first season they did at the start of the pandemic, putting all the bakers into a Bake Off bubble.
I'm tired. My mouth hurts and I'm tired.
I have therapy this afternoon. I think I may try to get a nap in before that.
Friday
We've had a busy day. We woke up to snow and wind and cold. The snow didn't last, but the wind and cold have.
Dave worked through the morning, but in the afternoon he left off so that we could go and vote. The last day for early voting is tomorrow and I definitely didn't want to leave it to election day. The polling place was crowded but we did not have to wait. I voted straight Democratic, the only sensible thing to do.
After voting we tried to order takeout from the Japanese place we love so much but no one was answering the phone. Three calls went to voice mail before Dave suggested a vegan place he had heard about. We ordered way too much food to share. We had a breaded tofu cutlet sandwich, a big burrito with beans, potatoes, green chile, avocado and tofu scramble, a bean and "cheese" burrito. We also bought a cider donut, a concha, a pumpkin empanada, and a cherry galette. We stopped at a park had everything but the bean and "cheese" burrito and the cherry galette. It was all really good, and if the place wasn't almost an hour away from us, I think we'd be going back there regularly.
After lunch, we had to take a load of junk to the dump. It was less crowded there, too, thankfully, so it didn't take too long.
We managed to make it home before traffic got too bad. We stopped at the mailbox to pick up our mail and to mail a check to my therapist. (That's one thing I don't like about this location, that our mailbox is not on our house, or at the end of our driveway--or even at the end of our street. It's on the turn-off to the main street, about a mile away from our house. FedEx and UPS will bring packages to our door, but USPS does not. If a package doesn't fit in our mailbox or in one of the package drop off boxes, then we have to go to the post office to pick it up.)
Speaking of packages, we came home with two and found a third on our doorstep. Our pandemic life is cardboard box after cardboard box.
Tonight I think dinner will be something very, very light. Maybe oatmeal. Maybe air. We've got to put in our grocery order for the morning, but I don't know that I have energy for much else. There is a new episode of Great British Bake Off--one is released every Friday--so we'll watch that. Then I think we should have an early night.
