Unpack

It was an early night last night, mostly. I had a decaf coffee in the afternoon, after not having had any in a long time. (I've been sticking to a non-caffeine, grain-based drink to avoid raising my heart rate.) That kept me up a little later than I wanted, but I did finally fall asleep. I only woke up twice in the night, my usual.

I was momentarily confused when my alarm went off at 8:00 a.m. and I walked out into the kitchen to see the clock on the oven set to 9:00 a.m. Oh, right, the time change. I had completely forgotten, but the clocks that are connected to the internet--my phone, Alexa--had not. The car and the oven are low-tech, so those will have to be set manually (or not).

Dave took the dog out for a walk while I got dressed. Our plan was to go to the casita to finish up moving the stuff from the patio, but the weather is supposed to be cloudy tomorrow so we'll do it tomorrow morning instead. We went out for coffee. (We have coffee at home, and we can even make simple espreso drinks, but I wanted to get out of the house for a bit.)

Our back up plan was to continue to assemble IKEA furniture. Last night, we finished the two storage units for my fabric (and I actually moved about 90% of my fabric onto them). This morning I finished the last of the nine bamboo storage boxes. And this morning we assembled one of the two five-drawer units that will make up the base of my new sewing desk. (Well, we're almost done assembling it. The drawers need to be screwed to the sliders, but we needed some lunch first.)

I had the last bit of the broth from the pot roast I made last week with some noodles and cheese added. Dave had his usual breakfast of yogurt and berries. We watched a bit of an episode of Great British Bake Off while we had our lunch.

Dave is hurriedly making some pizza dough for our dinner, then he is off (with the dog) to visit his mother.  I'll stay home and continue to unpack sewing stuff.

Later:

I've unpacked the majority of my sewing things. It's amazing to me that my sewing things have expanded to fill the two big Ikea storage units. (The fabric is not as tightly packed as it was in my old storage bins--actually, nothing is as packed as it was in my old space. I'm trying to avoid thinking that this means that there is room to acquire more things. In fact, I'm going through my works in progress--WIPs or, as some quilters call them UFOs (un-finished objects)--and there is plenty for me to work on without starting a new project or acquiring the things I'd need to start a new project. I have my grandmother quilt that is about a quarter done, the Sunbonnet Sue quilt I started six months or more ago, as well as a handful of clothing pieces that I planned and already have the supplies for...in fact, I think I counted up my UFOs and WIPs before we moved and there were more than 20. So I just have to continue to ignore the emails I get from the fabric and sewing supply stores I have ordered from in the past...)

Anyway, that's what I've spent the afternoon doing.
