Okay

We've had lots of clouds and rain this afternoon. It's nice. I like rainy days, even though it dampens everything, including my mood and energy levels. I'm okay with that. I spent part of the day doing laundry and part of the day watching very old episodes of Project Runway.

We're having take out barbecue for dinner. (I just ordered it online to be picked up in 45 minutes, which is why I have time to write right now.)

I sound like a broken record when I say it, but I haven't been sleeping well. It's the usual monthly hormonal insomnia. It will be about a week of being up until four or five in the morning and then it will suddenly right itself and I'll get two to three hour chunks of sleep through the night for a stretch of days before one of the other types of insomnia that I'm prone to takes over. Those types of insomnia usually mean that I can get a handful of hours of sleep at some point in the day, as opposed to this hormonal insomnia which leaves me awake most of the night and then trying to make it through the day on three hours of broken sleep and maybe a 45 minute nap in the middle of the day.

From where I'm sitting at the dining room table, I can see what is perhaps snow falling on the mountains to the east of us. I can hear rain on the roof, though it's not much. One of the outdoor exhaust fan covers bangs in the wind and that went on throughout the afternoon though the wind has mostly died down now.

Chance the dog has settled down under the dining room table at my feet. He had a bath over the weekend because he was starting to get very stinky. He doesn't go outside very much, but he is an older dog and they tend to be stinky anyway so Dave tries to get him bathed a couple of times a month.

We went to visit Judi and Buzz over the weekend, too. We haven't seen them since before Christmas I don't think. I took her my copy of Spare and we visited for about an hour. Now that we live 45 minutes away, it's a long round trip to visit and normally I might stay to work in the studio, but since my butt still hurts if I sit for too long (and the old office chairs that we have in the studio aren't very comfortable) we did not do any studio work. I have the sculpture I started over a year ago to finish, but since it is supposed to cover this decade of my life, I still have nine years to work on it. (I'm not great with deadlines.)

After our visit to Judi's, Dave brought me back home and then went off with Chance to visit his mother. I changed into my pajamas and watched Project Runway episodes. When Dave came home, he made salads for dinner while I made him a cheese sandwich. I had snacked throughout the afternoon and pretended through dinner that a salad was going to be enough. Right. I ended up snacking throughout the evening. This is the problem with snacking. It tends to go on and on and on until I've eaten more calories than if I had just sat down and eaten a full dinner.

Later:

Speaking of calories and dinner, we've finished our barbecue and are now lolling around doing much of nothing. I did the dishes and Dave took the recycling out and took the dog out for a bit as well. I started another load of laundry and then went back to Project Runway episodes. Dave is on his computer doing I don't know what.

I just made us hot drinks (Pero with soymilk for me and rooibos chai for Dave) and we had a treat from our Bokksu subscription box that sends us high-end-ish Japanese snacks each month.

So that's it. It hasn't been a particularly exciting day, but I'm okay with that.
