That Person

We had a bit of snow on the ground this morning and it's snowing now as I write this, too, though it will all by gone by mid-morning tomorrow, I'm sure, as we're expecting sunny weather and a high temperature in the 50s.

I haven't been updating very much recently mostly because not much has been going on that I feel like rehashing here. I've been doing all the usual things and some of the less usual things. I went back to therapy (mostly because I'm at the point where my tailbone has healed enough that I can sit for an hour without being in complete pain the whole time).

I doodle while we're talking and that was one of my doodles this week. I was talking about a dream I had (after a party, going outside and seeing candles and lanterns in the trees and knowing that I had to put them out) and that little creature emerged. Wonder what she has to say. I also talked about Robert a bit, a friend I had in high school who died by suicide. He lived with my family for awhile--we shared a room--but was forced home by his parents. He was like so many of the teenagers I worked with in children's psych.

Anyway, therapy was actually useful this past week, though I'm going to have to cancel this week's appointment because it conflicts with an ENT follow up visit I have on that day.

I've been feeling pretty tired, the cause of which could be just about anything though I suspect low vitamin D levels to be the culprit this time. I'm not sleeping well at night, but the full moon often does that to me. Everyone always says the effects of the full moon are a myth, but they're not. Just ask the tides.

I finished reading Prince Harry's autobiography. It was a lot of what you'd expect if you've been at all paying attention to his and Megan Markle's saga over the last couple of years. But some of it's not expected, like his 25 person kill count from his time in the military and the self-disclosure that he is circumcised. That kind of thing. After I finished Spare, I started up again with Loveless by Alice Oseman. (Dave and I watched Heartstopper one episode at a time during dinner over the last couple of weeks and he's been slowly reading the four volumes of the graphic novel that it's based on.) I also binge watched the majority of six seasons of The Sopranos. Despite the fact that it gets to be a little too violent for me in the last couple of seasons, I like that show. I even like the ending that everyone hated.

I've done a bit of aimless sewing too, working on crumb blocks mostly. I have a finished quilt top that needs to be layered, quilted, and sashed together, but I'm finding it hard to get started on that. I don't know why. I'm starting to look for a new sewing machine with some modifications that would be useful for quilting, like a walking foot and an extension table for the machine bed. My little sewing hooptie has been a marvel, especially considering that it cost just over $100 six years ago and I've made probably hundreds of things on it (not just quilts, but all kinds of projects from potholders and pillowcases and pajamas to bags and totes) with few to no problems. But there are a few bells and whistles that I'm thinking might be nice to have in a new machine. (I have two others, but both are older, so. . . )

What else is going on today?

Today's post brought a handful of things I ordered from Clinique as well as a bunch of freebies from them, including large samples of lipstick, mascara, and eyeliner. I haven't really worn makeup in about three years, so I don't know if these will go straight into the bin, but I may test them out at least.

For dinner, we had takeout burgers.  Dave had a black bean burger and I had a mushroom Swiss burger with bacon added. We shared and order of fries, a combination of regular and sweet potato fries. It was good, but the burgers were pretty small for what we paid ($8 and $11.50 for the burgers and $4.20 for the fries). I know I'm in danger of becoming that person who complains that in my day, you could get a huge burger for $6, but there it is. I guess I'm that person.
