Froggy Dear

This grumpy little one greeted Dave outside our front door one night about ten days ago. I wonder if he (she?) knows the other frog that has taken up residence on our courtyard (as far away from the pond as it can get). This one was hunting for bugs by porchlight, I think.
I wonder if it's one of our pond frogs whose mating call sounds like a hoarse scream for help that goes on for hours into the night.

I love him (her?) even though s/he looks perturbed here, not at all happy to have his bug hunt interrupted by Dave taking out the garbage.

I've been away from my blog for awhile now. Not much of import has been happening. (A lot of health stuff, but too tedious to write about.) My sleep schedule is completely upside down these days. I practically sleep from dawn 'til dusk like a vampire. I'm awake throughout the night and sleep from around 7:30 or 8:00 in the morning until 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the afternoon, the way I did when I was working overnight. (Only in those days I'd try to sleep from around 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.)

While I'm awake in the night, I sew. I'm working on two baby quilts for two of Dave's coworkers. I finished one (four yellow stars on a pale background with a flannel backing of happy bees) day before yesterday. I'll probably finish up the other one (nine green hearts on a pale background with a colorful flannel backing) tonight. In some ways, baby quilts are an easy make since they're so small. In some ways, they're kind of difficult since I don't know any babies so who knows what they'll like.

While I sew, I've been half-watching stuff on Netflix. I started with a four season run of a kids series called The Worst Witch. That led Netflix to start recommending other witch programming, so I watched an adult series called A Discovery of Witches. (The story was interesting, but the pacing was weird.) Then I watched the Ruth Bader Ginsberg biographical movie called On the Basis of Sex. (That was good.) Then I binged Kaos, the new series based on moderized Greek myths. It is amazingly good. It's so good that I may sit and watch-watch it again, not half-watch it while I focus on sewing.

One thing I did not watch was the presidential debate. I have since seen clips from it though, and read lots of commentary. Kamala Harris dogwalked Trump, as the kids today say. She took his lunch money then knocked his popsicle out of his hand into the dirt. Good. I live to see that orange pendejo humiliated. Still, I was telling Dave that this country is still a racist, misogynistic place and it will not surprise me if Trump is re-elected because people won't vote for a biracial woman for president.

Can't think too much about that depressing shit though.

Back to sewing.

Cool! You have frogs too. I've posted a picture or two in the past of our frogs. When I'm doing dishes, they sit on the window and try to catch bugs. I get to see them from the underside.

Was The Worst Witch the British series with Bella Ramsey? I thought they were very talented. I really enjoyed the series a lot. I don't have Netflix so haven't watched Kaos, but I have heard of it. I like Jeff Goldblum!

I only watched a bit of the debate but I have the same opinion as you do about it. I hope you are wrong about the eventual vote. Fingers crossed.

I've heard that babies like strong contrasts of colours, but I'm not a mother and I'm not even a good aunt, sad to say.

I'm happy to see you back!

Hi Helen!
How's your summer going? Hopefully the transition into fall will bring cooler weather for you all.

Yes, it was the program with Bella Ramsey. I thought they were very good in the show and I would watch them in something else (except Game of Thrones because it's too gory and intense for me). If you get a chance to see Kaos, do. It's very darkly humored but so well done.

The debate. Sigh. Trump's voice makes me see red. But I really like Kamala. I wish the world could vote. Then she might have a chance. I'm hoping for the best but preparing for the worst!

I'm also not a mom nor a particularly good aunt. I like children though, just never wanted one!

Thanks for visiting, Helen!
