Make Me One With Everything

Sunday:

It's windy today, not too hot, sunny. There's a fire weather warning for tomorrow--or maybe it's today. It's been very dry and windy recently so we've had a lot of fire weather warnings.

My sleep schedule is slowly starting to right itself--but I'm still up several hours in the night, so I've been sewing. I'm taking these curved pieced blocks slow because they take a lot of effort to sew them correctly. I've decided to make one quilt instead of two because of it. The Brain is already thinking of what to move onto next--although this one will have to be quilted and bound first. That will take another week or two--if it goes quickly.

I'm also listening to that ridiculous show Bones in the background as I pin together and sew blocks. The show is based on a real person, a forensic anthropologist--but on the show, she is a forensic anthropologist who writes novels, knows martial arts to the extent that she can disarm terrorists, works with the FBI, had an affair with the primary advisor on her thesis committee in college, has traveled the world and is familiar with every detail of almost culture on the planet but has trouble relating to other humans because she doesn't understand basic behavioral cues since she's so much more intelligent than everyone else. She runs her own lab, a huge, ridiculous, moodily lit lab that reminds me of the time they filmed a movie in the biology building of my university and we science majors would go by one of the offices that they had turned into a lab just so that we could laugh at the ridiculous things they had placed around their movie set "lab," things like colored liquids in beakers, test tubes boiling away over bunsen burners, various dinosaur bones and aquariums full of mice.

Ridiculous.

It's almost two in the afternoon and I am still in my pajamas. Dave is, too, but he's in the kitchen mixing up some bread dough.

Monday:

Weird weather today--wind, rain, clouds, sun--and another fire watch warning.

I slept a bit last night, woke up with a dodgy tummy this morning though. Who knows what that's about.

I'm almost done with the blocks for the latest quilt. I'm going to quilt each block individually, which is easier for me than trying to drag an entire quilt under my needle, especially since I want to add extra batting under each circle and then quilt them in a circle, so it means going around and around and around. That's easier done on a 18 inch square block than on a twin-sized quilt. Since the quilt incorporates many of the fabrics I've never used, I'm thinking of calling it "One with Everything," like the punchline from the joke about the Buddhist and the hot dog vendor.

My mom is coming over for dinner later today, so I have to get out of my pajamas sometime today and disassemble the nest I've made on the sofa and put all the cushions back.  I have a list of other things to do, too. Thing like "laundry" and "empty dishwasher" and "clean the toilets" and "continue to ignore the dust on the bookshelves in favor of doing more sewing." Don't know which of those will get done today.
