Best Damned Chicken in the State

One of the cracked plate/broken heart test tiles. Eight glazes and one underglaze on there, none of it worth salvaging, even after the fact. It cracked further in the glaze firing as you can see. I glazed this plate a couple of days after JD Salinger died, so the wax resist writing around the rim is the names of his novels and short stories. In the center of the heart is a riddle in Spanish. I don't remember the exact riddle, but the answer is un huevo. (Maybe you know a riddle that fits that answer.)

Tidbits

See, I knew the fried chicken lunch I had with my aunt yesterday was a mistake: Last night, I left the studio early and went back to the same restaurant and got some take-out fried chicken for dinner. Nothing else, no sides, just four big pieces of fried chicken and an iced tea. (As I was chowing down on my first plate, I was reminded of John Belushi as Elwood Blues in The Blues Brothers ordering four fried chickens and a coke from Aretha Franklin. Remember that?)

Now I've got heartburn. Which is just punishment as far as I'm concerned.

Dave is still out of town on company business. Last night the big "team building" event was--get this--a pizza party! I was, like, where are you, at band camp? Tomorrow night they're going cross country skiing for, like, an hour. (Probably more like 20 minutes.)

Anyway, like I said, I did spend a little time in the studio last night. I glazed a bit, but my heart wasn't in it and I found myself just slapping nonsensical glaze combinations on things. Usually when that happens, I'll get all the way through glazing something then I'll wash off all the glaze. Seriously. I have three pieces in that state, glazed and waiting to have the glaze washed off of them. The Brain must find that amusing, like the way some knitters end up unraveling their work. Then I just gave up and went for fried chicken.

Fried chicken is super extra good with ketchup. Did you know that? Super extra good. But then again, I put ketchup on everything. I even love ketchup on steamed broccoli. Makes it taste like candy. (Idea void if you've eaten candy anytime in the last decade.)

oh dude, I am so needing me some fried-chicken after hearing all 'bout your fried chicken escapades...let's go, I'm still unemployed!

Ay yi yi, chica! You and me both--unemployed, I mean. At least you still teaching, right? I think it's best not to foster a fried chicken addiction but once won't hurt! Le's dooo eeeet!!!
