Dave and I had dinner with Chris and Lu Ann last night. We went to a tiny Japanese restaurant called Kokoro. I had tonkatsu-donburi, a breaded and fried pork cutlet topped with onions and egg and served on a bed of rice with beni-shoga. It's awesome. See?
Dave had potato croquette curry. Lu Ann had tuna-donburi. Chris had kara-age-donburi. We shared some kampyo and vegetable rolls and inari-sushi.
This place is the best. I'm in love with their tonkatsu-don.
More Mug Shots
I had this idea that I would photograph all hundred mugs from the 100 Mug Challenge, but before I could get around to it Christmas happened and then some went away as other gifts and so on. Now all I've got are some random mug shots on my my phone. Since I don't want them to go to waste, here are a few:
I like this mug. It's got a handbuilt handle (as opposed to a pulled handle) and is glazed in overlapping shino and light green shino glazes.
This chunky little mug has a pulled handle. It's got shino and red glazes. As it only holds about 12 ounces, it's a little small for me personally.
This is a curious mug. I layered shino over pansy purple and it came out as a kind of streaky seaglass blue shot through with purple. You can't really see any of that in this photo; it just looks kind of grayish, no? It's got more personality in person, definitely.
This is an eggshell white glaze over red. The speckles are not in the glaze, they're in the clay. This is kind of a grandma cup in my mind. Like, maybe the person who would have this in their cabinet would be a grandma, I mean.
