Positive Spin

I'm here in the hospital with my mother this morning. It's quiet here in the ICU this morning. The cleaning crew is making its round so the place smells like bleach.

I brought donuts in this morning for the nurses and other staff.  Two dozen assorted from Five A.M. Donuts on Spruce. The cashier was distressingly earnest when I stopped in at seven A.M. That's hard to deal with when you're undercaffeinated.

It's much later in the day.  I went home too have a nap earlier.  I'm trying to blog on my phone since my computer refused to sign onto the hospital wifi.

It's later now and I'm home--in my mom's home anyway.  On Tuesday, my mom had hip replacement surgery.

Pre Op

Here's a photo I snapped today:

This was the parade this morning, out of the ICU and down the hall and back, accompanied by three physical therapists. Since my mother knows everyone in the hospital, half a dozen people stopped to chat.

The daytime ICU nurse Virina is really awesome. I wish she could be cloned so that every hospital could be staffed with Virinas. It's really amazing to me that some caregivers are truly that, kind and compassionate and frighteningly competent.

Ah hahahaha! I forgot about the missing donut! Who eats food they find sitting on other people's desks?! Next time he comes onto the ward put a donut on the floor and see what happens.
