Sugar Talking

I haven't spoken to anyone but animals--dogs and cats--so far today and it's already 6:00 p.m.  I thought I might go out to the studio this evening, but I don't feel like it right now. There may be a bath in my future as today, I was cleaning the bathroom and I found a LUSH bath bomb.

What have I done today besides not interact with other human beings and clean? I made a pot roast! (It may be the second time in my life that I've ever done so, what with living with a vegetarian for the last million years.) I really am on a beef kick for some reason. On Monday, I made beef stew, a huge batch with a roast I bought at the Co-op. It was not the greatest beef stew ever--I am out of practice--but I proceeded to eat beef stew for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for nearly three days. Today I made a three-pound pot roast with carrots, onions, celery, garlic and potatoes and I had a huge helping, probably half a pound of meat, for dinner. I also ate--no joke--six of the tiny iced lemon cakes that I got at Costco yesterday. Those things are a menace, tiny little iced lemon cakes. They're about a third the size of a large cupcake each, so I've eaten the equivalent of two large cupcakes. Then to cut the sweetness, I ate part of a bar of Chocolove milk chocolate with pretzels in it.

Now comes the meat and sugar coma.

The dogs I am sitting have been both really good and really bad. Well, one of them has been really good and one was mostly good then really bad. One of them may be getting a stocking full of coal come Christmas. The cats have been super extra snuggly, too. And today was nice enough that, as I cleaned, I left the front door open and they scampered around on the patio and then lounged in the sun.

That is the good little nerd dog.

It's been a good day, I think, though that may just be the sugar talking.
