Treat Yo Self!

It has been a kind of "treat yo self" (TM Parks and Recreation) weekend 'round here, starting on Friday with the airline tickets and my gorgeous bouquet of flowers. Early Saturday, we went out and bought a new kitchen table and chairs--after treating ourselves to a wonderful lunch at the better Japanese restaurant and a little book buying outing (though that was at a local thrift shop, so it was a cheap treat). Late Saturday afternoon, we stopped by a local shop called Self Serve and had a little double treat yo self shopping spree.

I don't know what we did to deserve such rewards, but we got them anyway.

The morning started out quiet and sunny, if hellishly humid, but in the early afternoon the dark clouds started to roll in. They brought cracking, booming thunder and bright flashes of lightning with them. The cats ran inside just as it started to pour.

It rained steadily for a couple of hours. I curled up with a copy of Monsoon Diary: A Memoir with Recipes by Shoba Narayan. Dave dozed awhile.

We had an early dinner of vegetarian cheeseburgers smothered in sauteed onions and green chile. I had a salad and baked sweet potato with mine (instead of bread) and we sauteed the last of yesterday's Tuscan kale salad to go on the side. It was very tasty.

It's now almost 2:00 in the morning and I should be asleep...
