Labored Day
We spent our Labor Day as most lazy lie-abouts do, by mostly lying about lazily.
In the afternoon we went out to meet my brother for a very late lunch of subs and salad at Dion's. After lunch we went by Keller's, a local butchers, to buy some meat. I got some grass-fed skirt steak (one of the cuts recommended by the personal trainer) and my brother bought some buffalo and chorizo. Dave the vegetarian bought nothing, poor dear.
We had eaten late enough in the day that dinner was a disorganized affair. I came home and for my dinner cooked pork tenderloin and had some of that by itself. I divided up the leftovers into four ounce portions to dole out tomorrow. Then I had some chocolate (dark chocolate with brown butter) and a spoonful of soy nut butter. Dave had some chocolate and nuts and a salad for his dinner.
I watched a few episodes of Bob's Burgers then I watched parts of a Jim Gaffigan comedy special.
I was in bed, in the middle of an episode of Bob's Burgers when a notice popped up on my computer that one of my online assignments was late. This online schoolwork thing irks me. First of all, why send out a notice that something is already late? Why not send out a notice a couple of hours before that something is going to be late? Send out the notice when there's still time to do something about it, ffs. And anyway, the instructor had sent out a notice last Friday that our due dates had changed since it was a holiday weekend. She made all the week's online assignments due on Wednesday instead of Monday. So I don't know what this business about something being late is all about.
Anyway, just to cover my bases, I did the assignment (while laying in bed) and sent it in, late. I'm sure that I'll have some basis to argue for it to be counted given the notice she sent out.
The whole thing gave me a headache which, several hours later, I'm still dealing with.
I'm not overly impressed with this instructor yet. The best thing I can say is that she has so far seemed thorough if uninspiring. She has a plodding way about her and seems to think that this plodding way is the best way to learn. Who knows? Maybe she's right. But it isn't my way, so I'm having a hard time with it.
And let's see what other rays of sunshine came my way recently?
Last night I had an allergic reaction to the medication I've been on for a few weeks. I had this reaction before, but for some reason I didn't connect it to the medication. About an hour after taking the medication, my neck and chest suddenly turned red and rashy and started itching. I took a bunch of benadryl and it felt better, but now I'm caught in this reaction until the meds leave my system. I'm going to call Dr. Shmoo tomorrow to find out if I should continue to take the meds (I'm guessing no) and to see what my alternatives are.
So that should be fun.
