Northern Exposured

I spent the day doing some chores around the house--shower and toilet scrubbing, dish washing, etc.--and watching episodes of Northern Exposure on DVD. I love that show.

I took a shower and got dressed, but  I didn't feel like leaving the house today, so for my meals I had to scrounge around a bit. I ended up having leftover chili for lunch and then again for dinner. (This may end up being a mistake, digestively speaking.)

In school-related news, I've decided to drop my current A&P lab. I'm not enjoying it and a lot of the lab exercises are simply busy work, copying things out of the textbook with no thought involved. That is a huge waste of my time. I mean, could be using that time to watch more episodes of Northern Exposure.

Yesterday was a strange day. I dropped Dave off at the airport before noon and then came home, took a shower, and went out again to buy another doll. I'm in doll acquisition mode at the moment. I bought a small doll, made in France, so on the expensive side, and when the woman at the toy store asked if I wanted it gift wrapped, of course I said yes. I brought it home, put it on the bed and immediately headed out again.

I had another therapy appointment which I went to (not fruitful) but then since I hadn't gotten any sleep the night before, I canceled the personal training session I was supposed to have in the early evening. Instead, I came home and was actually surprised by the wrapped gift on the bed. I opened it and introduced the two dolls to one another of course and then thought I'd try to get in a nap. That didn't work so well, so instead--surprise!--I watched some Northern Exposure.

Kelly called in the early evening to offer me a couple of slices of take-and-bake pizza that she and Kevin had just pulled off the grill. In exchange, I offered her half a pound of Humboldt fog, this amazing aged chevre that Dave and I had bought at Costco. (We bought a one-pound wheel, knowing that we couldn't possibly eat it all but unable to resist the magical stuff.) The pizza made a perfect dinner--the grilled crust was really crispy and good--and I scarfed down the two slices while watching an episode of Northern Exposure.

I was a huge Northern Exposure fan too! I really miss the show!

Your chevre sounds amazing. We don't get a lot of good cheese out in the boonies where I live!

Wasn't NE the best? I have a full set of the DVDs, so I watch it every few years.

I remember how awful--and expensive--the cheese selection was in my little corner of Tokyo. I don't think I ate cheese more than a half-dozen times while I was there, and that was probably just a bit of Parmesan on pasta!
