Before Dawn

I was up around 2:00 a.m. last night, couldn't get back to sleep. I had to get up at 5:30 anyway to get ready for class at 7:30.

A couple of weeks ago, I would get to class just after dawn. But now when I get to campus, it's still dark and the street lights are still on. (Behind me you can see the awful fluorescent lights that trigger my headaches which, more about that in a bit.)

I had skipped class on Tuesday--wasn't feeling it--so I definitely had to go today. We already have another exam coming up next week, believe it or not. Though after the last exam, and after looking over the ten practice exam questions he sent out, I'm not going to stress over this next exam.

When I got to class, there was a pseudo quiz (I say pseudo because it apparently didn't count and we could work together) on the skeletal system. Some departmental genius came up with the plan to skip the lectures on the bones of the skeleton (I guess they cover them in the lab which I am not taking) but the instructor wanted us to know a few of the major bones, I guess. Maybe 30 of them? I filled out about 80% of the "quiz" without a problem but got hung up on the half dozen specific bones of the skull we were supposed to know, so I asked a young woman next to me if I could copy her answers. She was fine with it, so I just went ahead and did that and handed it in.

I'm trying hard not to complain too much about any of this because it is possibly the easiest A I have ever gotten in a biology class. And I'm through being principled about such things.

So that was fine.

Towards the end of class, the combination of the fluorescent lights and low blood sugar made me feel like I was going to pass out. I had a small squeezable yogurt/fruit mix, the kind they sell as toddler fodder, and I somewhat inconspicuously sucked that back. It helped a bit. After class I didn't want to drive home while I was still feeling shaky, so I sat on a bench outside and had a banana and some soy nut butter.

I drove home and texted Dave that I was home. Then I changed back into my pajamas and went back to bed!
