Pull Through

Dave and I had dinner last night with my mom, aunt and little cousin. We went to Godfather's Pizza (my aunt had a groupon), something I haven't done since high school. Seriously, there was a Godfather's Pizza a half block from my high school and when we were particularly flush (and before any of us had cars), we would walk down there and have lunch, usually a personal pan pizza or an order of breadsticks and a coke.  Anyway, it's been more than a quarter century since I've eaten there, but last night we went and shared two jumbo pizzas, one classic combo and one split into halves, a vegetarian combo side for Dave and a custom combo for my 9-year-old cousin (black olives, pepperoni, pineapple, and I forget what else). We also shared a big garden salad.

It was nice and very, very filling.

We came home via Whole Foods (I'm staying up at Judi's with Crunch and I needed to get a few things for breakfast) and weirdly, ran into someone we haven't seen in about 15 years. It was Glen, one of Dave's old co-workers from a job he had a long, long, long time ago. I always liked Glen, he was a laid-back, former bicycle messenger from New York City looking for a more relaxed environment I think. He moved out here with his then-girlfriend (I can't remember her name), a super dynamic woman who reminded me a bit of a very hip cartoon mouse. (She eventually left him for someone else.) He was with his new partner, Katherine, a woman I swear I've never met before although she seemed to remember me. We stood in the aisle of Whole Foods and chatted for about 20 minutes and made a promise to get together soon. (Although that's on Dave, so I don't know if it actually will happen.)

We came back to Judi's after that and as we were unpacking the groceries (eggs, a piece of cake, bananas, decaf coffee), I realized that I had forgotten my medication at home. That meant driving across the city and back again (and once more for Dave to get home). Ugh.

I stayed up a bit too late and got up a bit too early (the second night in a row for this). Yesterday, I had to be at Judi and Paul's at 6:20 in the morning to drive them to the airport and I fed and walked Crunch when I got back to their house. But last night, I couldn't get to sleep until around midnight and Crunch woke me up at 5:00 to let him out to pee.  So it's 6:30-ish now. I'll walk Crunch in a bit (when it gets light) and then give him his breakfast, then I want to try to get another hour or two of sleep.

My legs are super sore from the workout we did on Thursday. I look like a zombie when I walk. I do love working out--am always glad when I finish--but man, I do sometimes dread going to the gym because I know it's going to be a hard workout.
