One Day at A Time

The plumbers are here! That is never good news, of course. The recent rains have caused plumbing problems, as the rain tends to do. So I haven't had a shower today, which is always fun.

It's Halloween, too, which should be fun. We have had two trick-or-treaters in the ten years we've been here, so I don't know why I always insist on buying candy to hand out. I am always tempted to just hand out handfuls of the packets of soy sauce, duck sauce, ketchup, Parmesan and so on that we get from our various take-out meals, but that would be unsporting. This year, we bought a bag of dum-dums and one of Starbursts (neither of which I like). Whatever doesn't get handed out will go to work with Dave and get put--along with everyone else's unwanted, unloved Halloween candy--out on the break room table.

What else has been going on?

Dave took yesterday off from work and we ran a few errands in the rain. (Yay, rain!) I had my new copy of Amy Poehler's Yes, Please with me to read while Dave dealt with some stuff that he had to do. (I'm only kinda liking it so far. I read Tina Fey's Bossypants and liked it a lot more.)

We had lunch out and then take-out for dinner. Neither of us have wanted to cook so we've reverted back to our restaurant-eating habits. That's been going on for weeks, unfortunately. We need to get our cooking mojo back!

While we waited for the plumber, we cleaned up a little bit. We couldn't do dishes obviously, but we straightened up, swept, wiped down the table, and so on. I was going to run Roomba, but when I went to start her up, the poor little thing informed me that she was not charged. I don't know if she got knocked off the charger or what, but her little battery was completely drained. So we put her back on the charger and are waiting until she's all ready to go.

Oh! And I got my test score. I got a low A. I was tempted to be disappointed--somewhere along the way The Over-Achieving Brain decided that a low A is the same as an F--but I decided after calculating my average (98.75%) that I didn't care about this particular low A. So that's good.

And, so long as I'm rounding up bits and pieces of news:

I ordered some new clothes online this morning, a couple of pairs of straight-legged jeans, some new undies, and a pair of yoga pants to wear to the gym. I've been needing new jeans for awhile, but I absolutely hate going to the mall and dealing with salespeople, so I've been putting it off. Things have gotten pretty dire, jeans-wise.

I've also discovered a youtube channel that puts up all the old Bob Ross PBS shows. I will never take up painting landscapes in oil, I don't think, but I do love Bob Ross. I've been watching a couple of episodes a day. Who doesn't love happy little trees?

The other thing I've been watching online (when I should be studying) is episodes of The Dick Van Dyke show. I started off watching a single episode, thinking it was going to be corny as hell--and it is, but I laughed out loud a few times at some of the less corny gags, so now I'm watching a run of episodes.

And that was Friday and Saturday (so far). We have the afternoon plotted out. After the plumbers leave, I'm going to take a shower. Then we have some more errands to run, grocery shopping and so on.
