Falling

Man, I feel like I am falling apart today!

I was up all night and got about ninety minutes of sleep before Dave woke me up. I had a headache and then a stomach ache. Then I made the mistake of drinking too much caffeine (though these days too much caffeine is any amount of caffeine) so I was jittery for hours afterward.

I had to get up to get some things done in the morning, but I was home again by 10:30 and I got a little more sleep (after downing some benadryl and ibuprofen). I slept from around 12:00 until 3:00.

Almost as good as some more sleep: When I got home from my morning errands, I stood outside and listened to the cranes calling to one another. I love the sound of cranes overhead. I couldn't see any unfortunately, but they're here.

In the late afternoon, I went out to meet my mother for dinner. We met for BBQ and after we had our food, my mom had an upset, like, a literal falling down on the ground kind of upset. After a stranger and I had helped her up, she found that she had twisted her knee. I went and got a bag and filled it with ice from the coke machine and she iced her knee while we ate. (I just texted her and she says she'll probably go to urgent care in the morning if it's not any better.)

I came back home with leftover brisket (we shared a pound) and some ribs for tomorrow. I was actually somewhat disciplined and forwent dessert of any sort (and they have those awesome marshmallow treats that I love).

When I got home, I jumped on the stationary bike and did an easy 30 minutes while I watched Obvious Child, the Jenny Slate film from last year. It was really good, so good that I may even watch it again soon.

My headache is back, unfortunately. It's sitting in my left temple and it makes me wonder if I'm not grinding my teeth in my sleep again.  Of course, my go-to thought is always: I'm having a stroke. But since it's been an all-day low-level kind of thing, I doubt it actually is a stroke. If I google my symptoms, I'm sure I'll come up with cancer. It's always cancer. Dr. Google doesn't have any other diagnoses, I don't think.

And, oh yes! It's daylight savings time again. It will be great not going to my morning lecture in the dark--but less great when it gets dark at 4:30 in the afternoon.
