Leading Into the Weekend

Thursday

I should be studying right now. I have a huge exam this time next week and I have yet to crack my book and start studying for it.

I should be doing some housework right now. The bed is unmade. The floor is unswept. The dishes are unwashed.

I should be doing any number of other things, but instead I am doing this.  I am sitting at the kitchen table, drinking a cup of decaf coffee, looking at things on the internet. It's an election year, so things are as depressing as they ever are during an election year. (If I read another article about Donald Trump, I'm going to scream. His colleagues are no better, just less blustery. There is no way in hell any of them can get elected, thank God. Hillary Clinton is going to be our next president. Finally, a woman president.)

In other news: My allergies are making me nuts, and I suspect that the allergy meds I take are contributing to the low feeling I've had lately. I take the smallest amount I possibly can, but there's no denying that antihistamines are central nervous system depressants, similar to alcohol.  So now I'm wondering if I can wait and just take them as needed. I think I'll do that.

Sigh.

I have class tonight, so I absolutely have to leave the house. I'm trying to look on the bright side of that--or at least to think of a way to reward myself for going. I usually go for an expensive coffee from Starbucks, but I think that I'll also grab something sweet, too, like a donut or worse. The Brain is jonesing for sugar.

Friday

I got an email last night, just before leaving for class. My mother had been interested in going to see the Lion King when it comes to town, but the only way she could get tickets was to buy season tickets and that was too expensive a proposition. The email I got was an offer to university alumni to purchase Lion King tickets on an individual basis, so I got online and got my mom a couple of tickets. She picked balcony aisle seats and I got some that seem okay. It wasn't the matinee she wanted (those tickets were rarer and slightly more expensive), but that's probably okay since the matinee is going to be filled with bratty little kids, I'm sure. (I mean, for the price of the tickets, it's a forgone conclusion that they're going to be spoiled little kids at least.)

I did actually go to class last night, despite not wanting to.  I rewarded myself with a Kit Kat and a decaf soy latte at the nearly-Starbucks in the library. (They serve Starbucks coffee, but no one who works there seems to really understand that.) Fifteen people didn't show up for class (according the the instructor). We had two five minute breaks and got out twenty minutes early, which was fine with me.

I came home, had a snack, and went to bed. I was exhausted, probably from a combination of allergies and allergy medication.

Today I slept late late late, got up and showered, then had blunch (breakfast/lunch) and did a bit of housework (took out the trash, ran Roombita, and so on). David should be home this afternoon--in a couple of hours, actually. (He's been on a business trip to Seattle since Monday.)

I'm craving, but craving sweets right now.

There are times when I am so glad I don't live in North America! The US election process just seems to take so long and I see stuff about it everywhere, it must be even worse for you in the States. I am hoping that you are right about the outcome of the upcoming election!

Have a good weekend :-)

Hi Helen! I hope my prediction is correct. I can't bear to think of the alternative.

Hope you're having a good weekend! :)
