Friday the 13th

Look at the flowers from this wax plant.

My grandmother used to have one of these growing in her bedroom window, and I used to love the flowers. They're so delicate and beautiful.

This is my friend Judi's plant, growing in her kitchen window.

It's been a week. My sleep schedule is shot again and I've been getting some hives going again. (Possibly hormonal. Possibly the result of an immune system already stressed by late spring allergies. Possibly because I haven't been exactly regular with my Allegra intake.)

I have been cooking, though, believe it or not.

Last night, I tried a recipe for buffalo cauliflower, which is just roasted cauliflower in a buffalo wing sauce (turns out that that is just Tabasco sauce and butter (in my case, vegan "butter") with a little bit of garlic powder thrown in). With it, we also had pinto beans and some leftover bulger that I turned into a kind of Spanish rice-ish dish by toasting it and adding salsa then heating it through.

The night before, we had the plainer bulgur with calabacitas and veggie sausage (Dave) and eggs (me).

The night before that, we had veggie "bacon" cheeseburgers with big salads.

The night before that, we had a pasta dish (penne, tofu, kale, and asparagus) with a tahini-lemon dressing.

That's the most cooking I've done in weeks and weeks as we'd fallen into the habit of eating out while the semester was winding down.

And speaking of the semester winding down, school starts again on Monday!

Yeah, those plants were everywhere in the 70s, weren't they? :D

I just caught your blog update. Sounds like you've been busy. How's the pottery class (classes?) going?

I am busy, but still making sure I have down time!
No classes for a few weeks, though I'm glazing the last pieces for that youth class as we ran out of time. I'm offering classes in mid-June, so I hope at least one fills. If not, I need to put the pedal down on my own work, esp once my majolica testing is completed. Thanks for asking!
