Modern Travel, Walking Shoes

I just got off the phone with Dave. He's on a business trip and was supposed to come home tonight but got caught up in Southwest's meltdown, so one of his connecting flights was cancelled. What was initially a four-hour delay turned into a twenty-four hour delay and now he's considering taking a flight to a nearby city and driving a rental car home. He's in the airport trying to make arrangements before he boards his first flight. Ah, modern travel.

Here on the homefront:

It is 102 degrees outside so I'm staying inside. I am meant to be studying, but instead I'm watching videos on youtube of my favorite new comedian Stewart Lee. I have two exams and two case studies due on Monday and I'm already behind. But The Brain likes comedy and I am beyond telling The Brain what to do today.

The Brain also wants fried chicken for dinner, but I don't know about that. Yesterday The Brain wanted a chocolate croissant and I did too, so we had one, but this is not a good long-term strategy.

Aside from watching Stewart Lee videos online and studying and showering and watering the garden, I haven't done much of anything. I took out the trash though! That's something, right?

Oh! I also ordered a pair of shoes online from this place called Hot Chocolate Shoes that makes these incredible shoes:

They have the craziest designs printed on them and, if these fit, I think I'll order about six more pairs with different designs.

I've been doing a bit of online shopping recently, mostly for books since I am reading again. Today's mail brought me a copy of Jenny Lawson's Let's Pretend This Never Happened, a so-far hilarious memoir.

Ugh, but I need to study instead of read hilarious memoirs!

Those are very cool looking shoes!

Study already! It's a good time to study when you are at home alone isn't it? Makes the time go faster, less distractions??

Hi Helen!

I hope they fit! (I'm always hesitant to buy shoes online because it can be such a crapshoot.)

SIGH! I know, I know. I made it through one chapter so far today, which only leaves two more to go! I do enjoy the quiet time to study, but I also enjoy it for kicking back and watching videos online...

Hope you're having a great weekend!

Damn, and I thought our 95 degrees was bad!
Those shoes are awesome. Reminds me of those chinese shoes I would wear all the time - I loved those though they screwed up my feet. Do those have support at all?

Hi Carol!

Yeah, we're trapped in a run of 100+ degree days right now. Not so unusual for us. But it's so dry that it always makes me feel like I'm in a food dehydrator.

They are modeled on those Chinese shoes, but with thicker soles (according to the reviews). I used to wear those things all the time, too. I could buy them at a local shop for around $4. They were awful, though, weren't they? Only nominally better than wearing a pair of socks.
