I could not sleep last night for anything. I had taken Benadryl all day and even took some in the middle of the night, but I still could not fall asleep. I tried taking a shower to warm me up and hopefully to relax, and that did nothing. I re-watched a bunch of episodes of Sex and the City and finally a little after 5:30 a.m. was able to get to sleep.
I woke up again around 8:00 or 8:30 a.m. and had something to eat and chatted with Dave. He was going to a concert then lunch with his mother, so I went back to bed. I got up around noon and he got home a couple hours later, bringing me lunch from a newly opened barbecue place. (The brisket was alright, but the sauces were terrible, so I did the unthinkable and ate my brisket with ketchup.)
After lunch, we lazed around a bit and then I changed out of my pajamas and we went for a giant fizzy drink. The cranes are back--as are the Canada geese and big flocks of crows--so we got to see them on our drive through the valley.
Then we came home and I changed back into my pajamas and had some leftover brisket. And now I'm back in bed, reading blogs and half-watching a new series on Netflix called Sick Note, with Rupert Grint. It's not very good.
With daylight savings time in full swing, the sun sets before 5:00 p.m. and it's hard to get motivated to do anything once it's dark and cold.
Some photos from my phone:

It's chile ristra season. The trucks are rolling out as we speak. I caught this one in traffic on my way home from PT one day. My brother and I had a conversation about how some people use ristras as decoration, hanging them on the walls and letting them get old and dusty and then buying new ones. It's weird to us, I guess, because our people use them as actual food.

While I'm waiting for my therapist, I like to take pictures of the "art" in her office. I kind of like this matchbox composition. She's got a couple of them. One day I'll ask her where they came from.

Dave and I took a day trip up to Santa Fe a couple of weeks ago and stopped for a Meso-American hot chocolate (unsweetened shaved chocolate mixed into hot water, which is hardcore, man) at our favorite chocolate place. We also picked up a pound of cacao nibs, which I love. (I tried buying them in a regular grocery store, but they had been sitting on the shelf for so long that they went rancid. The nib turn-over rate is much higher in this chocolate shop, so they are very tasty.)

Dave and I had dinner with Grace a week or so ago and this zia design was stamped into the sides of hummus we ordered to go with our chicken shawarma. After dinner, we crossed the street to a cookie shop and snagged some cookies to munch on.

I caught Gray Kitty lounging about on the bed getting pets from Dave. Gray Kitty has always had weirdly snake-y eyes, one of the things I liked about him when he was a skinny, scared stray unsure about whether or not to let us bring him into the house. Now he's a fat, pampered cat who lives on a special diet, naps in the middle of the bed all day (and gets grumpy when you try to move him), and runs up $3K vet bills in his spare time. (And we wouldn't trade him for anything.)
