A week ago we went by the studio and I started sketching some new plates to paint. The plates are ready-made bisque wear from the local pottery supply place, but they're fun and easy to paint. Here are photos of the sketches I did on a couple of of the plates:
(You can see the sketch I made of this figure below.)(This creepy sketch was inspired by the Kewpie doll photo you see on my phone in the upper left.)
That last one is a sketch I did a few years ago, copied from some book I have, the title of which escapes me. I wonder where that book is now. I think I brought it home from the studio, but now I have no idea where it is.
I also sketched out a smiling skull and a couple other things (honestly, I can't remember now). Maybe this weekend I'll get started painting them. I'm thinking of adding something, some wordy something, on the plate rims, but I haven't gotten that far.
While at the studio, we chatted with Judi. Paul died at the height of the pandemic last year and so Judi never had the opportunity to have a memorial or service for him. She has since scheduled it for mid-July, so we'll be attending that next month.
Reading:
I'm currently reading Uncle Tungsten by Oliver Sacks and just today I got a copy of What Fresh Hell Is This? Perimenopause, Menopause, Other Indignities, and You by Heather Corinna. There are so many things about perimenopause and menopause that I don't know because they aren't common knowledge which is crazy considering that 51% of the population will experience it. Anyway, I'm learning lots of things, like that heart palpitations are a common symptom of perimenopause and menopause. Did you know that? I did not, despite experiencing them, which can be scary if you (like me) have no idea what's going on.
Watching:
Still watching/listening to Monk. There was a marvelous episode where John Turturro plays Monk's agoraphobic brother. It's one of the highlights of the show so far.
Doing:
I registered for the vaccination lottery. Lots of states are having lotteries to increase vaccine participation. You can only enter the lotteries if you have been vaccinated and since I have, I can enter for a chance to win $250K to $1M.
Not much else. Physical therapy exercises. Sleeping and not sleeping. Sigh.
