Happy first day of autumn. Alexa says that it's 64F and partly sunny and that the high will be 81F today. (Yesterday was slightly cooler at 77F.)
I actually got out of the house and to the studio yesterday. The new sculpture is done to the neck and I started on the head (the first head, I mean, as it will be one of five, with each one opening up at the top to reveal a new one, like a series of stacked matryoshka dolls). It will be weeks or months before construction is done, then it will be months to years before the entire sculpture is finished and fired. It's fine. It's a once-in-a-decade piece. The next one I make, in ten years, will have six heads.
Last night's dinner was Korean yet again. It's the closest place to the studio where I can get a vegan meal. We tried another place the night before and I ended up with the saddest "tofu scramble" I've ever seen. And they forgot my chapati, so I paid around $11 for half a block of tofu with about one mushroom and 1/8 of a zucchini and two tiny slices of vegan "bacon" scrambled into it. That was my dinner. At least with Korean there is a decent amount of vegetables and tofu (though the tofu is fried so hard that it is dry and crunchy). (Can you tell I'm sick of take-out food?) Dave is home tonight so we'll have to figure out what to cook for dinner.
I have a lot of stuff to get done this morning, so of course I'm wasting time online. I have dishes to wash and I need to clean the bathroom. I also am so close to being done with this latest quilt that a handful of hours more will finish it off. And yet--
I've spent the last three days glued to a screen binge watching seasons two and three of Sex Education. What a tremendous show. I haven't cried so many tears of sadness and joy over a show in a long, long time. It's a little heavy handed sometimes (what show concerning teenagers isn't?) but still consistently well done.
But since I finished all the episodes, I can get back to my endless to do list.
Hope fall is better than summer was.
