Last Monday (Nov 14)

From where I'm sitting at our dining room table, I can see the mountains. Last night we got some rain (a slight drizzle for about an hour near midnight), but the mountains got a decent dusting of snow.

I was up throughout the night but finally got to sleep around three a.m. (I think). My alarm woke me at eight to get up and take my meds. I did and then meant to go back to bed. Instead, I listened to a thirty minute guided meditation and then got up and made a decaf soy latte and did some sewing. I'm still working on crumb blocks, going through my small collection of solid-colored scraps. I'm thinking the crumb blocks will end up in a new mojo quilt (which is what I call quilts that have just any- and everything in them, made to get my quilting mojo back up and running). After sewing for awhile, I got up and got dressed and had dinner leftovers for breakfast.

I spent the rest of the morning cleaning bathrooms. (This is the drawback of having a house with three bathrooms. Two get regular use so needed cleaning. One gets minimal use but still needs some attention.) I don't like cleaning bathrooms--I don't like cleaning--but we may as well start as we mean to go on, toilet-scrubbing-wise.

After finishing that up, I sat down to have a cup of Pero and a snack (jalapeno cheddar goldfish crackers) and start an order for Whole Foods. We got a small grocery order on Saturday, but they were out of a lot of stuff, and subbed a lot of stuff and we found ourselves kind of scrounging to make meals out of what we have in the house. Don't get me wrong: We have plenty of food, but it just somehow doesn't coalesce into meal ideas that sound very appealing. Last night I made sopa seca and we had that with vegetarian "chicken" nuggets. The night before we had nachos. While talking over what to have for dinner today we discussed making Indian food (mattar paneer with feta or tofu instead of paneer, aloo gobi, and rice) but that is a very ambitious, labor intensive kind of meal. What I really have the energy for is take-out pizza.

It feels like a Monday.

The neighbors have a black horse (and a couple of others, one reddish brown, one something else) and I can see from where I'm sitting, kind of scrounging around on the ground.

I had a relatively uneventful weekend. I did a bit of sewing, a bit of organizing, a bit of cooking.

Dave slightly more eventful as his sister is in town so he went to visit with her and his mother on Saturday and Sunday. They seem to have had a good visit. His sister brought him kimchee and a couple of donuts that became dessert on Saturday while we watched the latest episode of Great British Bake Off.

He also (with minimal help from me) put together one of the two glass curio cabinets that we got from Ikea. There is one more of the same curio cabinet (we got one each) and then that will be the last thing from Ikea that needs assembly. For now. I already have another small 5-drawer cabinet that I want to use as a nightstand.
