Gym Sunday
If this is Sunday, it must be a gym day.
Sundays at the gym are always a toss-up. Sometimes Dave and I run into a former lab instructor who we both had (at different times). He remembers Dave, but he doesn't remember me, thank God. I was not the best behaved student he ever had, I'm sure. Anyway, I would have put money down on this guy being gay, but there he is at the gym on some Sundays with his wife and son. (I'm still about 80% sure he's gay though.) He wasn't there today.
Dave and I did an upper body workout (I work an upper-lower body split routine that Dave has adopted) and the briefest bit of cardio. My minimum is 40-45 minutes of cardio (after 30-45 minutes of weight lifting), but today I skipped all but the cardio warm-up. For some reason, the lifting tired me out.
Trader Joe's
After the gym, The Brain decided that it wanted to go to Trader Joe's. I don't know what's up with The Brain lately, because usually the thought of going to Trader Joe's makes The Brain want to hide under a rock. The place is filled with things The Brain despises (obnoxious shoppers, fluorescent lighting, claustrophobia-inducing store layout, baskets too big for the narrow aisles, that damn bell), but today The Brain was all, let's go! We can doo eet!
So we did. Which was great because I ended up buying two big ol' vats of Trader Joe's meringues, one chocolate flavored and one vanilla flavored. I love meringues, but I forget about meringues because the hippies who run the co-op where we usually shop have deemed meringues non-hippie-friendly, so they don't carry them. Damn hippies.
We also got a bunch of other random stuff like dried blueberries and garbanzo beans. It's like freakin' Beat The Clock going into Trader Joe's, like some random scavenger hunt list that included meringues, dried blueberries, garbanzo beans. Seriously. We also came home with beer and zucchini and parsnips. Whose shopping list has that stuff on it?
Mine, I guess.

Hi Rosa.. I love dried fruits, having mum send some... I like to incorporate them into my baking!!!! Sadly.. no Trader Joes here...
Speaking of working out.. I need new shoes.. after 80 min of cardio (brisk walking) in place... my feet are SORE. My sneakers are squeezing my toes..
Hi, Girl Japan!
You know, I don't remember dried fruits (except dried persimmon) as being very common in Japan, even in Tokyo. Maybe it's because baking isn't common either--?
I hear you on the shoes. I'm due for some new ones, too. Good ones are so pricey, no? I've just got to bite the bullet and shell out for some decent ones.
