I made paper beads for the first time today, using my trusty dead woman's $2 Fiskars, an old Ben Bova paperback that I bought for $1, and a glue stick.
It's easy to do, but time and patience consuming. I think I'm going to varnish them and include them in some jewelry.
This is the varnishing step. I impale them on an old chopstick and use a brush to paint the varnish on. I think I need another system--or at least another chopstick.
I also made a couple of books, covered with brown paper from brown paper bags.
I usually carry a small book that I make lists in, like shopping lists and the like. These should work.
That is my work table, circa late this afternoon.
It still feels like the eye of the hurricane.

I love paper beads, did you know Etsy is selling them?
These look fantastic, I had no idea you were an artist.
Oh. P.S. Have you seen that movie "Ramen Girl" with Brittany Murphy?
Hola, Chica!
Nuh-uh! Paper beads on Etsy? You can get everything on Etsy, no? I swear, I have to stay away from that site or else I'd be no joke broke!
I haven't seen "Ramen Girl." Is it good? I'll see if I can Netflix it.
Rosa - hello - thanks for the comment on my blog - I love it - I hope my mom sees it but I don't think she has noticed that there are comments on the blog!
I only had a second for a quick glance at your site but it looks like you make some great things. And I'm really digging the quotes. I'll have to spend some more time diving into your blog.
Thanks for stopping by - how did you stop by anyway? - if you don't mind me asking. Either way, I'm glad you did.
Hiya, cagio!
I came to your blog via another blog that I like, "Green Jello." (Is that right? Sometimes I do so much blog surfing that I forget! But, yeah, I think that was it.) She links to some cool blogs and yours was one of them.
Your photos are amazing, by the way.
