The past week was a hard one, but mostly because I insist on procrastinating. I was sick--am sick, still. My cough will not go away. I had a midterm in one class and a lot of homework besides. This weekend, I had to write a paper, which is boring and frustrating anymore.
Midweek, all but one dim bulb burned out in the kitchen and, since I get up before the sun comes up, I made my breakfast and packed my lunch in a darkened kitchen, which did nothing for my grumpy mood.
I'm tired. I'm just not sleeping well and I'm sick of the commute to school. I can't wait for the semester to be over. Six more weeks.

Arriving at campus in the morning. |
There were some bright spots to the week, too:
Saba the one-eyed kitty is continuing to do well. She is loving her very much chaperoned outdoor jaunts these days and she grouses and grumbles when we pick her up to bring her inside.
Friday night Dave and I went to Costco and stocked up on a bunch of stuff. We have so much toilet paper right now.
Dave and I went out for an early dinner on Saturday afternoon and we had time to chat, something we haven't done in awhile. We need to make that a weekly occurrence, I think.
I basically took Saturday (mostly) off and, instead of working on homework all day, I did a bit of sewing. I'm sewing what's called a "crumb" quilt--a quilt made out of the tiniest scraps of fabric, the things that would normally get thrown away after a larger project is made--sewn together higgledy-piggledy. Saturday, I used up the bits of flannel from the pajama pants I made Dave and I got three quilt blocks out of the resulting jumble. I added those to the three I got out of the scraps from other various projects, bags and such. I was telling Dave that I like the idea of making a crumb quilt as I go, with its telling the history of my fabric choices. It's a project that's years in the making, but I'm okay with that.
Sunday, we had lunch with my mother and brother, which was also nice, although my brother wasn't feeling well so we kind of cut lunch short. (I came home and finished my paper and sent it in.)
Sunday I also made banana and sunflower seed butter bread, a chocolate version (it's just the regular stuff with half a cup of cocoa and chocolate chips added). It's a yummy start to the day (though I am also happy with my recent run of egg sandwiches for breakfast).

I don't think I've heard of a crumb quilt before, but it sounds cool. (Side note...please tell me the flannel was pre-shrunk!)
I hope that you are feeling better now. I've heard that the coughs that people get this year don't go away for ages.
May your 6 weeks pass quickly! Have a good week.
Hi Helen!
How goes the packing for the move? Are you having fun yet? >_<
Yes, I always pre-shrink the flannel by washing it twice--or more. It's strange stuff, flannel. It shrinks up so much and can get all twisty besides, though I do like working with it since it's 100% cotton.
My cough lingers, but is slowly getting better! Thanks for asking. :)
Hope you're having a great week--thank goodness it's almost the weekend tho!
